The Purpose of Urban Sent Ministries
Urban Sent Ministries (USM) exist for the sole purpose of reaching and awakening the urban community. We believe that we have been called to rescue the hurting with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, restore these communities with God’s Love and revive the Church’s passion to reach these areas. Urban Sent, the dance group, is only a tool used to accomplish this purpose.
Urban Sent’s Contribution to Urban Ministry Excitement: This aspect of their ministry is the most obvious. Each time that they dance, they aim to reach and touch someone’s life. For Urban Sent, dancing is the unique tool that God has given them to capture the attention of urban youth and young adults. They use this gift with excellence, seeking to glorify God fully with their bodies.
Awareness: Another part of their ministry includes awakening the church to urban issues. In efforts to bring awareness, they regularly write articles discussing social ills, in which they distribute at their merchandise tables for no charge. It is their hope that these articles will spark a desire in someone to reach the urban community as well.
Resources: Thirdly, God has called them to aid in equipping the Body of Christ with the necessary tools to reach urban areas. Under this umbrella, they conduct an Urban Youth Crusade and Conference for churches upon their request. At this event, they hold evening services that are specifically outreach-driven and day sessions that seek to empower youth and youth workers to reach their communities. One can read more about this event in the included packet of information.
Experiences: In addition to the more visible areas of their ministry, they also bring the unique aspect of experience. Some of their members have experienced first-hand the struggles of urban ills and hold powerful testimonies that are a tremendous asset. Also, all of the members of Urban Sent are involved in urban ministry at the second largest outreach ministry in America, Victory Kids Outreach (VKO) in Tulsa, OK. The wisdom and knowledge that they have gained through years of service can be very valuable to churches and organizations.
